Short summary is RIDE2 is a journey into a entrepreneurial lifestyle, where social benefits is the dominant currency.
product designer | entrepreneur | educator | additive manufacturing expert | innovation explorer
Ever since my childhood I need to know how it all works. I opened all appliances that broke down and wondered what world was hidden inside. This passion and instinct for patterns and understanding the concept ,helped me become the person I'm today.
During my study as mechanical engineer I came into contact with the world behind functional products. I understand how it's made and how to make it work according specs. Fascination stuff, but something was missing. I wondered what people would think of it and how they would react to my product. All valid questions that were often tackled during my master Industrial Design Engineering at University of Twente in Enschede.
During my graduation at Inalfa Roofsystems I learned that engineers a very much capable of applying the basics of user orientated design. Believing that I could help a lot of SME's with their need to apply "design" to their products I started RIDE2. The goal was to work with companies that didn't have the need for a full time designer to work with them on engineering their product emotions. Not a big success, but during one of the projects I encountered 3D printing again and was hooked.
I pivoted my company towards 3d printing and spend the last years developing knowledge and skills on design for additive manufacturing. I believe we are entering an era of mass customized society, because technology makes it possible.
